Celebrate National Beer Day on April 7 by drinking a brew, and don’t forget to add a dash or two of Don Chelada beer salt!
Why is April 7 the perfect time for those of the appropriate age to enjoy a beer? This date marks the day in 1933 when the Cullen-Harrison Act went into effect, after it had been signed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The act made it legal for U.S. citizens to drink beer and wine again—in states where it was allowed—following the Prohibition of the 1920s. Hard liquor remained illegal, but beer was suddenly made available.
Roosevelt commented on the legislation by saying, "I think this would be a good time for a beer." A lot of Americans took his suggestion to heart, reportedly consuming over a million barrels of beer in the 24 hours after the law took effect. It wasn’t until 2009, however, that this day began to be celebrated nationally by those who enjoy a brew.
A great way to honor a day of beer-drinking freedom is by emboldening your favorite beer by topping it with a sprinkle or two of our beer salt. You can add Don Chelada's new salt to a bottle, can or even use it to rim your beer mug. The salt offers the zest of chile and lime. Don Chelada puts a fresh twist on a traditional or craft beverage, while enhancing the celebratory experience. You might also want to mark your calendars for National Drink Beer Day on September 28.
Anytime is a great time for pairing your beer with a Don Chelada product, and as always, please drink responsibly every day of the year. Cheers!
